Pablo Cortez is a Brazilian film director and actor, born in Rio de Janeiro and currently based in Porto. His work moves between cinema and performance, shaped by an international trajectory that includes time living and working in New York, where he developed and filmed his most recent projects.
As a director, he co-created and co-directed the series Letters for the End of the World, developed during the pandemic, and has since directed short films exploring narrative through performance and visual language. His recent work includes projects filmed in New York, continuing his engagement with character-driven storytelling.
Alongside his work behind the camera, Pablo has built a solid career as an actor, performing in theatre, television and film. His credits include Brazilian TV productions and feature films such as Medusa (dir. Anita Rocha da Silveira), presented at the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as collaborations with contemporary filmmakers in Brazil.
He trained in acting in Brazil and the United States, studying at CAL – Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras, the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and Stella Adler Studio of Acting, among others. His practice is deeply influenced by research in acting methodologies and the relationship between actor and camera.
Pablo is the founder of Studio Casa and Laboratório de Atores, initiatives dedicated to the research, training and development of actors, reflecting his ongoing commitment to artistic investigation and collective creation.
